Anniversary cake

We celebrated 18 years of marriage!

Tovah made us a cake.

learning to dive

We took a few days’ vacation and Tovah and a classmate took scuba lessons from a travelling German SCUBA instructor.

She had to learn her skills in a “confined water space” which Jen says is confined only on one side… by the ocean floor.

why does camp food always taste so delicious?

For a final goodbye with our team we went camping.  The pictures don’t tell the story of the 4 chickens and ½ whole tuna that we roasted, but it does show that we used only cans as our dishes….  Mmmmh, “why does my cowboy coffee taste like green beans?”

Elami turns 11

Elami turned eleven while at school, but we celebrated again when she got home.  :)

*Notice that the temperature is so cold (low 80’s) that Jen and Lami are wearing sweaters!

Baobab fort

We saw this baobab tree on a remote beach.  We decided it should be climbed, so with some scraps of wood and a some old nails we climbed it.

Bats

We live on an island of fruit bats which we see all the time, but there are also giant bats – also known as flying foxes.  We hiked up to see them, and took some snaps.

I don’t know how to make you appreciate their size from these pictures…  so I’ll do a size comparison…  Tovah and Lami are about as tall as their wingspan.
